The Canadians "sueeze" drug companies by using their buying power. Walmart is starting to squeeze the drug companies by using THEIR buying power. Medicare is probably the LARGEST drug buyer in the entire world and the ONLY reason Medicare isn't actively negotiating lower prices is the "noncapitalistic protectionism" that the Republiclicans have shown the drug companies.
