I own no fixed income securities (bonds or preferred stocks). I have some money in money market funds from recent stock sales. That money will be deployed into stocks as I see opportunities. My wife and I have money in mutual funds from retirement plans where we can't self select individual stocks. I own no bond funds. In my wife's 401, among several we chose, we included a bond fund and a savings account for her comfort level. These funds would represent not more than 0.5% of our total investments.
That is right, I almost never put more than 1% into one particular stock. (1% measured across the total of all the portfolios) However, I've a couple of stocks that have increased in value since I've held them, and they represent more than 1% now. I find I sometimes wind up investing somewhat broadly within sectors. Which means, for example, not only can I say that VLO itself is a large bet for me, but additionally, the cumulative value of positions I have of VLO, TSO, HOC, FTO, GI, ALG, etc. - make this sector bet significant for me. Relatively, anyway -g- |
