Frank, in the referenced material I was less concerned with the perceived "dangers" on the 'net, and more interested in acknowledged uncertainty about the drivers for popularity, interaction and commercial success.

Is Web 2.0 based on known internet realities, or is it one in a series of iterations, each merely adaptive to changing technology and global penetration, both horizontal and vertical?

I'm not sure.
