It helps to have, as biotech investor, a good people filter.
There was this guy, Peter Johnson at Agouron. He used every LEGAL mechanism possible to get good news first to his long-term shareholders. It was pre-reg Fd, but nothing other than well-timed, overt optimism rolled out. If management and other team members were bummed, you knew it.
Before I drive Miljenko nuts, I'll stop on that thread.
BTRN's CEO was such a nice guy, and he was a true believer in the capacities of allogeneic attack against "blood malignancies". Great guy, huge vision, but stubbornly trying to save a bad business plan rather than take new aim. TELK's CEO could have done great in life, never leaving an entry-level (commission) shoe salesman's slot. And, given that good people filter, I supported NBIX CEO as sector CEO of the year, two years running.
