11/3/06 Update
The Nasdaq Biotech Index was down a bit for the week but remained in positive territory for the year. At Friday's close, the NBI was up 1.64% YTD (vs. up 2.47% YTD at its 10/27/06 close). The Charity Contest portfolios also had a down week and the median of the portfolios is back in negative territory for the year, closing the week down -.88.% YTD (vs. up .45% YTD at the 10/27/06 close). At Friday's close, 18 of the 40 Charity Portfolios were in the black YTD and 15 of the 40 portfolios were outperforming the NBI.
It's still Wilder in first place, closing the week up 52.1% YTD, and RKRW in second place, with a 43.8% YTD gain.
(On a personal note, my own portfolio was catapulted into fourth place by the Merck's buyout offer for RNAI. Although no other Contest portfolio held RNAI, I gather some contestants owned it in real life. My congrats to them.)
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
