Nixon got us out of Vietnam, yes. If he had been President instead of Kennedy, I doubt we would have been in there in the first place. If the Democrats had refrained from micromanaging and the hippies had just stayed home and smoked pot instead of going on the streets with it, the war could have been run successfully, like the Gulf War and the Iraq War were.

We gave up on our objectives, which to me isn't at all the same as being defeated or losing.

Communism always sounds good to people until they have to live under it. The Vietnamese people who were smart enough to know it is a fraud became owners of Seven Eleven stores in the US, and many other successful businesses.

What makes you think Vietnam isn't a pawn of the Chicoms? It certainly doesn't serve as a very good base for our defense of the South Pacific and Indian Oceans, as it could have.

I bet Iraq would be more than happy to keep their oil flowing to us when the rest of OPEC is cutting back, just to express their gratitude. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
