Cancall Cellular Communications Inc CLE
Shares issued 9,400,027 Aug 16 close $1.32
Fri 16 Aug 96 News Release
Mr Robert Kamyszek reports
The company and the Global Communications Group of Cambridge, England have
reached an agreement to proceed with the co-development of the European
cellular rental phone market.
The Global Communications Group through its subsidiaries Global Media,
Global Audiotext, Global Productions, Global Telemarketing, and Global
Speechsystems, provide enhanced telecommunications services in 20 strategic
countries located mainly in Europe. Global offers broad based
telecommunications experience as well as pre-existing relationships with
blue chip companies. Cancall and Global management are scheduling the
introduction of Cancall's rental system into the European marketplace as
early as the first quarter of 1997.
The company and Global have identified London, England as the first
location in Europe, closely followed by locations in the Scandinavian
countries, Spain, France and eventually Russia. Management feels that this
European joint venture will compliment the company's continuing US
expansion program.
AT&T Wireless, LV and the company have agreed to an exclusive resellers
agreement, substantially lowering Cancall's air-time rate, and allowing the
company to offer the most competitive debit phone technology in the Las
Vegas market. A debit phone is a cellular telephone containing prepaid
air-time, allowing an individual or company to predetermine their telephone
expenses. On a nationwide basis, 30% of all cellular phone applications
received by cellular carriers are denied for various reasons. AT&T and
Cancall Cellular feel these individuals are perfect candidates for the new
debit phone. AT&T has agreed to refer these individuals to Cancall,
beginning September 1 1996.
AT&T feels this arrangement will substantially increase its market share in
Las Vegas, adding thousands of additional lines a year. In addition to its
Las Vegas location, Cancall will be offering this debit phone technology to
the general public through all its locations in the US and Europe along
with its own private brand of World Wide Long Distance Calling Card.
