Haida ho, Zita.... We are seeing Van the Man tonight, meeting 5 friends for Sushi/Japanese food at a little place in the International District that Yen and I love...it opened in 1911! The bartender is this very cute little Japanese woman.... last week she poured about a 5 shot bourbon for someone, and I said, "that is a hell of a cocktail." She looked at me an said "THAT is a DRINK!".. I asked how long she had been working the bar at Maneki, she said..."oh, just over 50 years.." wow. I'd love to take you there sometime. My Dad was stationed in Japan after the Korean War, and he said he had never been able to find some of the specialty dishes he fell in love with in Japan. I took him to Maneki, and they had the dishes he was looking for, and he said they tasted exactly as he remembered!
