To put things a bit more simply,if the pain of the consumer in the developing world has allowed the US consumer to party while holding up the economiies of both the developed and developing world, why couldnt the tables turn. The US consumer going belly up will allow the developing world consumers to party holding up both economies.Do we really believe that the Brazilians are not smart enough to drop their interest rates nor the Chinese not to change their polocies when the time comes?I believe the US consumer is not the US economy.I know US housing is about the worst investment one can make during the next ten years. The housing bust will be long and slow. The invisible hand at work!
