There is NO other country on earth that gives others as much as do Americans. NO OTHER COUNTRY!

Superficially, that is true! But the ugly truth is that America did not give altruistically; all its gifts to the countries of the world came with a price tag: it was either beholden-ness or loyalty to America for the sake of containing Communism --- a political philosophy and way of life that America has had a morbid fear of!

To cut a long story short, all of America's "generosity" or benevolence during the Cold War (1945 - 1990) was predicated on containing Communism.

As it is not my intention to make you cry, I will not recount the ugly and out-of-character things that the seemingly ever benevolent America had perpetrated and perpetuated on innocent peoples around the world. To get yourself somewhat up to speed, you will do well to read

William Blum's KILLING HOPE (isbn 1-56751-252-6) available from amazon.com. For a start, read the synopsis and the pro and con views of this book there.

However, let me recount just one horrible incident. Vice-President Nixon (under Prez Eisenhower) once ordered surplus
American wheat to be incinerated rather than be given to India to help it alleviate a famine.
Result: more than a million Indians died of famine.
Why was Nixon so heartless? Simply because India at the time was perceived to be leaning towards the commuinist Soviet Union. And yet, in ignorance, many Americans have been fond of boasting, "America NEVER closed its breadbasket to the world." LOL !!!
