Rosita..

Just got back from seeing Van. The dude is an awesome talent, a beautiful voice, and he blows a pretty mean sax, too.

Unfortunately, he is just punching a time clock and going to work. He started precisely at 7:30, and ended precisely at 9:00, no encore. No talking to the audience. He played probably played 20 songs, almost medley style. He finished one song, then went right to the next. No introductions, no banter. He was surrounded by great talent, but his musicians never got a solo of more that 15 seconds.

A friend had a seat up close, way to the side. he said that there was a digital clock off to the side of the stage that started at 90 and ticked back to zero, at zero, Van walked off the stage...show over.

The tickets were $100-$250...too high for the show he gave. I'm sorry to see that he really doesn't love what he does anymore, but I'm sure he makes a great living from it. It was too professional, almost canned.

I did enjoy a lot of the music even though I had a woman sitting behind me who's singing sounded like a severely wounded moose.
