Good for you Darren, but thousands of seniors simply wanted some income and bought a highly diversified number of income trusts, because they were not going to be touched. They thought they were as safe as GIC's now they have learned a huge lesson, When the Liberals did this the Conservatives were strident in their condemnation. Surely they knew what damage they were doing to the retirement funds of Canadian Seniors, and frankly decided that Seniors didn't matter.

The variety of income trusts, and the dwindling number of Canadian options made many older Canadians trying to find some income decide that the trusts were safe, after all they were protected by the word of the Prime minister who promised they wouldn't be touched.. Now that we know that Stephen harper is just as big a liar as paul martin, he is even less appealing as a member of parliament. We desperately need an election.
