Hi Steve--My opinion on entering Asnd: If you are buying 10K or less , I would split my order in two. You might get a dip early monday morn. That would be a good entry point for half. Then I would wait to see if they try to bring it lower to buy the rest. If they don't by Wed, I would pick up the rest before the hype of Interop takes hold. If you enter with 20K or more, I would use the same strategy but split my purchase in thirds.
I believe Asnd is near its low, but you never know what the MMs and their intitutions are planning. The Barron propaganda article is probably there last big gun. I believe Barron is delivered to the East on Friday. If so, Friday afternoons dip might have been the MMs last entry point. What else can they do to hype it down. The whole world has heard their negative spin, but it hasn't changed the fundamentals, the market share, the growing market for internet and networking equipment. Everyone familiar with the industry knows that Asnd and CSCC products are on the cutting edge. I hope you success on your trades and straddle and stragles.
I was one of the very first persons to sell naked expiring options on the CBOE. Most brokers and institutions were terrified of these new instruments. I was also invited to one of the first organizational meetings of the CBOE in the early 70s. The first seats were going for $6ooo. At first, they were having a hard time sell the seats. I debated for several weeks on whether I should gamble the 6000 (seems like little today, but it was a brand new electra with money left over, then) I turned it down. The last time I cheked, the seats were around $1 million.
