Intel, including Brian Halla, chief executive officer
of rival National Semiconductor Corp., which is in
the process of buying microprocessor designer
Cyrix Corp. "I think the Intel-Microsoft monopoly
is one of the best things that ever happened to this
industry," Mr. Halla said. "The only way you can
get access to a large market of 80 million units a
year is to have somebody in control of the

Prior to joining LSI Logic, Mr. Halla was
director of marketing for the Microcomputer Group at Intel Corporation.
Earlier, he held a variety of management positions at Intel .....
