Not to make too much of what your post already acknowledges...but 10,000 terrorists could potentially make 1000 9/11's--rather than merely one.

It is about DEFENDING our values by force. You may not understand this but it is ALL about self defense. We are not sacrificing lives over some silly altruism.

Sorry to be so blunt. The bullets and bombs are not for people with hearts and minds. They are for the mindless and the heartless. Western civilization is under attack. Do you not understand that? Did you not see 9/11? Do you not know that we have prevented many other such attacks by killing and/or arresting terrorists??

Get off your high horse and touch the real world...
