Iran should have been trashed the day the iranians took over the US Embassy, an act of war and an invasion of US Territory, the failure of the President to react to an invasion by a military force of US Soil is be basis of all of the problems with Iran. America proved that the President was not a "Real Man" In the 6th century he would have lost everything. Instead he simply destroyed the idea of the US as a Military power in the Islamic World. When George Bush made his decision to invade someplace, he should have attacked iran, instead he attacked iraq.
