Well, that's the thing of endless debate.
The Day and Hour Unknown 36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Now Sid, I'm just another man with a sheep brain, but to me, that sounds like those that are prepared will be removed, and those not prepared will be left for a hard time. Kinda like this:
The Parable of the Ten Virgins 1"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6"At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'
7"Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.'
9" 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'
10"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11"Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!'
12"But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'
13"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
Here's how I look at it. In the time of Moses, we had to try to live up to the law, because unless you were anointed with the Holy Spirit by God (like David), then you did not have any the Counselor to help you along the way. All you had was the law, and the sacrifices called for as a result of your sin debt.
Obvioulsy, then Jesus came along, paid the ransom for our body, and then left behind the Holy Spirit for those that confess, get bapitized, and stay repentant. And it's still that way till this day....but according to the scriptures, that's going to change. Jesus is going to pull out the Holy Spirit, and the those those with the oil in their lamps are going away from here when the door opens. Those left behind are now going to have a big problem....here it is.
The rise of the anit-christ and the false prophet. This can't happen as long as the salt and the light are still on earth. But once He is gone....IT'S ON.....and for everyone here, there is going to be hell to pay.....literally. Now they will be back under the law. What law? This one.....
DO NOT WORSHIP THE beast!!!! DO NOT TAKE THE SIGN OF THE beast!!! NO MATTER WHAT!!!!
But that's going to be a tall order. The pressure to do so will be unrelenting. To not do so will eventually mean self-sacrifice....which was exactly the point the entire time.
Matthew 16:24 NIV • Read this chapter Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself (AKA self-sacrifice) and take up his cross and follow me.
God will get his way in the end. We can do it the easy way, or the hard way....the choice is, and always has been ours.
