Well, Richnorth, I can understand that fully. BUT in this day, of media of all sorts and the lies that are told, I think we have to be as careful as possible when quoting info...IF it is just our own opinion, that is fine in my mind. We have free speech here in the US. BUT if we are trying to make a point, with someone else's info, then we really should try to find sources that would substantiate that material. EVEN if necessary, going to the Library and looking it up in the Periodical Index, old as that is.... However, for something you are talking about, surely there is some info on that event if it really happened that way.
The search engines are amazing today....many things that happened years ago, are online already. I have done research for more than 30 years now, and am fairly adept at it. However, I couldn't find anything about your grain burning.
The point really is though, in my mind, that the US doesn't HAVE to do anywhere near as much as we do for the world and it's peoples.
But we continue to do it. Personally, tht makes me happy as a citizen, and should inspire all of us to contribute wherever we can.
The one thing I think the rest of the world should realize is that THEY could help themselves more, and stop waiting for others to come to their rescue all of the time. |
