What good will the coal mines do when the sea level rises and then freezes.

They can do the following...

Give the populations of ex mining towns something better to do then be unemployed and take drugs. Very costly waste of resources.

The space used by the coal can be replaced with cleaned garbage, making the miners at least twice as useful.

The coal can be burned cleanly to make the UK less dependent on energy imports.

The raised frozen sea can keep the flooding at bay, we can sell all the captured fresh water to the booming thirsty populations living in the deserts of Siberia and Greenland. We will sell it in bottles of course, the trendies like that -g-
