re: If you're unfamiliar with how the process works here, when voters sign in, they're handed a card that looks much like a hotel key card. Then, they go to the machine, cast their ballot and bring the card back to the poll worker, who takes it and prepares it for the next voter.

That sounds pretty funky to me. We have touch screen here... but at least the card is used only once, and deposited into a box.

I still think you could do secure Internet voting somehow... but I know people would just freak out over that one. But imagine if you could get a live vote total all day long... that would be cool. (And I know people would scream about different time zones giving up when they saw their candidate losing, etc etc).
