Protocall Announces Acquisition of Classic Movie and Television Library Andy Griffith, Bonanza, Casper, Call of the Wild, Cinderella, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Lone Ranger, Our Gang, Sleeping Beauty, A Star Is Born, The Three Stooges and Many Other
COMMACK, NY, Oct 05, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Protocall Technologies Incorporated (OTCBB: PCLI), www.protocall.com, a leading provider of CD and DVD on-demand systems for retailers, today announced the acquisition of some of America's most beloved family entertainment titles from the library of United American Video.
Under terms of the agreement, Protocall acquired original product masters for 542 well-known classic movie and TV titles, which the Company plans to offer to retailers through its DVD on-demand system.
"The revenue opportunity from these and other categories of classic movies and television shows is significant, since many retailers are now discovering that sales of catalog titles can collectively outsell new releases," said Bruce Newman, President and CEO of Protocall. "Our system offers retailers the ability to give their customers immediate availability on a potentially unlimited number of movie and TV titles without the cost of physical inventory."
Protocall's TitleMatch system enables "brick and mortar" retailers and online etailers to produce retail packaged CD and DVD digital media products on-demand as the products are needed to fill sales orders. TitleMatch shifts product delivery closer to the time of sale and reduces dependence on physical inventories, one of the industry's largest cost categories. Protocall's licensing agreements with large software publishers such as Corel and McAfee and over 200 other companies allows retailers to manage their inventory carrying costs while ensuring 100% product availability.
The acquisition leverages Protocall's extensive experience in on-demand product delivery and extends its revenue opportunities into the $24 billion movie and TV entertainment space.
At store locations, consumers can browse and select available products from multi-media touch-screen display terminals located on the sales floor. Orders are produced behind the counter by store personnel in minutes using the system's production station. For online orders, consumers browse and select available titles from an etailer's website with orders being sent to local store locations for pick up or mailed direct to a purchaser's home. Products produced from TitleMatch are delivered in their full color retail packaging that consumers are accustomed to purchasing.
