Veteran Movie Distribution Executives Join Protocall Stephen Chase and Jamie Jones Bring Extensive Backgrounds in Developing Multi-Million Dollar Movie and TV Content Distribution Businesses
COMMACK, NY, Oct 17, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- In its latest move into the movie and entertainment arena, Protocall Technologies Incorporated (OTCBB: PCLI), www.protocall.com, a leading provider of CD and DVD on-demand systems for retailers, today announced that veteran movie distribution executives Stephen Chase and Jamie Jones have joined Protocall as Managing Directors of the company's newly formed Content Acquisition & Retail Strategies Group.
The announcement follows an early October acquisition by Protocall of original product masters for 542 classic movie and TV titles, which the Company plans to offer to retailers through its DVD on-demand system.
Chase previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Acquisitions at United American Video, a wholesale distributor of DVD movie and entertainment products to major retailers. Jones, who was also an executive with United American Video, served as UAV's Vice President of Sales and Operational Strategies where he oversaw distribution of UAV's acquired content into all mainstream channels in the United States.
Chase and Jones were key members of the core management team that increased UAV's top line revenue from $80 million to $175 million in three years and quadrupled EBITDA in the same period primarily through expansion of the company's high margin $50 million proprietary content licensing and sales business.
"We are making an aggressive push to acquire proprietary content for delivery though our DVD on-demand systems," said Bruce Newman, President and CEO of Protocall. "Stephen and Jamie have deep experience building movie distribution systems from the ground up and will be a key part of our company moving forward. Their expertise in this business, coupled with our recent acquisition of movie content, will help us in expediting our revenue growth."
Earlier this month, Protocall acquired some of America's most beloved family entertainment titles from the library of United American Video, including "Andy Griffith," "Bonanza," "Casper," "Call of The Wild," "Cinderella," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Lone Ranger," "Our Gang," "Sleeping Beauty," "A Star Is Born" and "The Three Stooges." As many retailers are experiencing greater sales from catalog titles than they are new releases, Protocall's on-demand system offers retailers immediate availability on a potentially unlimited number of movie and TV titles regardless of how often a particular title is requested.
