Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Some 1,300 Iranians have signed up for the opportunity to help liberate what they call "Palestine" by blowing themselves up among crowds of Israeli Jews. Afrusa Rajafar, head of Iran's government-condoned suicide bombing recruitment center, said in an interview with the Finnish newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet at the weekend that most of the recruits are educated career people, such as doctors, lawyers and university professors and students.
In a translation provided by Israel's Ynet, Rajafar told the Finnish daily that the recruits undergo fairly minimal training, since "all they have to know is how to push a button."
A secondary objective of the group is to "defend Iraqi holy sites" against American-led forces.
In related news, thousands of Iranians demonstrated in the streets of Tehran Saturday, marking the 27th anniversary of the take over of the U.S. embassy by militant Islamic university students.
The event was characterized by anti-U.S. and anti-Israel chants and the burning of both nations' flags.
At a ceremony outside the former U.S. embassy, Iranian parliament speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel urged Washington to finally learn the lesson of the seizure of its mission and drop all threats related to Iran's nuclear program. |
