Al Jazeera releases full transcript of al Qaeda leader's tape Monday, November 1, 2004 Posted: 8:07 PM EST (0107 GMT) (CNN) -- The Arabic-language network Al-Jazeera released a full transcript Monday of the most recent videotape from Osama bin Laden in which the head of al Qaeda said his group's goal is to force America into bankruptcy. Al-Jazeera aired portions of the videotape Friday but released the full transcript of the entire tape on its Web site Monday. "We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript. Full story: cnn.com All - This story is from 2004, but I think it bears recalling. It is very relevant to our current situation. If Al Qaeda's goal is to bankrupt the US, it seems that Bush is playing right into his hands. The present policy of "Tax less and spend more" is creating an ever-larger budget deficit and adding to an unsustainable national debt. In insisting on cutting taxes while there is a war on, something no Administration has ever considered before, the Republicans are simply shifting the economic burden of this war (and everything else) onto our children and grandchildren. Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda cohorts don't even need to attack us again. They can just relax in their caves and chuckle as they watch their larger plan succeed. For this reason, if for no other, if you haven't voted yet, vote to put the Democrats back in control of Congress. How's this for a slogan? "Support our troops. Help pay for the war." - Allen
