M, EROEI is not a dopey idea.I am heating my house with wood...a good deal if wood is close by.It might not be such a good deal if i have to expend vast amounts of energy(money if you wish) to get to it, cut and haul it to my home.I would say ..this is a dopey idea to do this..i may as well turn on the gas furnace (get heat for less money.)Using more energy or money units to get less energy or money units is a dopey idea, so the Concept of EROEI is not a dopey idea.

Trying to capture energy from falling liquid c02 thru a sea water pipe might be a dopey idea.Trying to recover energy from all water dropping thru hi rise buildings might be a dopey idea too.Plenty of dopey ideas, but i still believe EROEI is usefull in determinig the better dopey ideas <g>
