"Both companies made about the same amount of money last year and are likely to grow at a 40% rate for at least the next 2 years."

The analysts don't seem to feel that Radisys and Wind River will grow at a 40% rate for FY99.

Radisys is estimated to earn $1.89 for FY98 and $2.23 for FY99 -- an increase of 18%.

Wind River,on the other hand, is estimated to earn $.62 FY98 and analysts' official estimates for FY99 are $.83. However, analysts are already telling their clients to expect significant i2o related earnings in FY99. H&Q told clients in their last report "We have raised our FY99 estimates to $.80 but our figures still do not include royalties from the i2o initiative...the i2o initiative could ultimately yield earnings closer to $1.00 per share." Wessels, Arnold & Henderson told their clients "I2O will generate a significant market by itself and has the potential to be the single largest opportunity the embedded market has witnessed."

The bottom line is analysts are expecting around 60% growth for Wind next year and 18% growth for Radisys.

On a side note, Wessels' 8/1/97 report mentions "Wind has recently signed similar i2o royalty agreements with TWO large microprocessor venders that have not been announced." We heard about the deal with DEC. Perhaps the second deal Wessel is talking about will be announced this week.
