"It is under complete control of the whim of the President. If he decided tomorrow that you or I were 'enemy combatants', we'd be in a deep cold dungeon ... Lots of bad things could happen if our government representatives were not subject to checks and balances and accountable to the will of the people. I don't agree that we are realistically any where near that point.
