Right now I can only remember four times that I felt especially happy about politics or world events.

1. End of World War II (yes I can remember it).

2. Resignation of Nixon.

3. Collapse of the Soviet Union.

4. Today.

From what I am hearing about Bush, it almost sounds as if he is happy about it.

But ten or fifteen years of monetary and fiscal mismanagement by both political parties and their appointees--almost since Paul Volcker left the Fed--will not be corrected for many more years.
