Rumsfeld's resignation allows the Iraq Study Group's recommendations (shortly forthcoming) to be reviewed and possibly implemented in an atmosphere more conducive to acceptance of new direction. This is a very good thing. For everybody. Maybe there will be a light at the end of this particular tunnel and we can figure a way to begin the careful disengagement from the forthcoming (occuring?) Iraqi civil war.
