For one, it isn't clear that the Chicken Hawk argument is fallacious. It all depends on how it is used. The way I often see it used is to point out the moral ambiguity of the stance. That is perfectly valid. To challenge someone to stand up for what they are advocating is perfectly legitimate. It is fallacious to try to re-caste that challenge into some other statement like that post tries to do.

"Not having served in combat isn't enough by itself to call someone a coward."

That is true. But advocating a course of action that risks others and has no possibility of causing you any risk is not exactly showing lots of courage. "Yes, I am willing to risk your life to protect my beliefs" is, I dunno...
