"The American people spoke."
I think this is the most ridiculous statement being bandied about by the now vocal and cocky dems. "The American people spoke" would seem to imply that no Repub was elected, that a total Dem landslide happened.
What happened, and what the dems are so proud of, is that they now have 1 seat in the Senate over half and a few seats in the House over half. So, does "the American People spoke" mean that finally half this nation decided to vote for Dems?
You Dems must understand, fully half this nation, except for a few percentage points, still is strongly Repub. We do not want your ideas, your leadership, or your opinions. You do not have any kind of mandate. Unfortunately, you do have control, and that, and the associated power, is all that you have wanted since 1994 when that embarrassing loss occurred. You have been gnashing and grinding your teeth for 12 years. Now you are placed in control by the slightest of margins.
I predict you will get big-headed and forget anything you promised on the campaign trail. You will "go after" that which you have hated and seethed at for over a decade. I predict you are incapable of clear thought or any "bi-partisan" thought at all. Already, one day after the election results are final, the Dems are "demanding" an Iraq summit. Were I Bush, I would not even bother with y'all until next year. However, he seems in a mood to fold and capitulate to you sorry pack of yipping dogs. So, I am certain he will have your meeting and probably meet your requests.
I do not think you have the good of the country in mind, I do not think you are capable of anything good for the country. You have a long way to go to change my mind. Please note the type of Dems I am speaking of are not the newly elected, seemingly normal people, but the ones you have chosen to lead your party; Howard Dean, Kennedy, Schumer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Reid, etc. These people are now in charge, whether you normal Dems like it or not. It is their agenda that will be put in place. I hope you get what you want from them, but I sincerely doubt any good will come from the likes of those kind of people. Best of luck to you in your next two years of power, I sincerely believe that is all you will have. Your chosen leaders will kill your party. |
