Wrong. Oil companies should pay royalties for drilling on public land. Big royalties. They are making windfall profits now and corrupting our congress and White House. They need to be regulated strongly, and the people need to get a piece of the action, mainly to fund new clean fuels programs. If we don't gradually replace gasoline and oil as our primary energy sources we're just stupid and backward. If Brazil did it so can we. And Chevron's ads in California were extrenmely dishonest and misleading. Of course it's not a tax. it's just a piece of Chevron's windfall profits.
