At some price I'm sure STM would buy it. Intel might have to disguise the sales price in some way to make it more palatable to their shareholders. Presumably there would be savings from a consolidation that make it an economically sensible move.

What's the alternative for Intel? Shut it down? Is Intel really just going to keep losing $400m a year plus the capex required to keep competitive? There has to be some turnaround plan, and a firesale makes most sense.
