True enough, good points, still it looks like the mullahs would have net benefit in keeping a reasonably stable buffer between themselves and the saudis? ... and the zionists as well of course ... it wasn't them who started up the war with SH, he attacked them ... language and culture are distinct yes, but the same flavour of religion could be a pretty strong bond, some of their major holy places are in Iraq ... they have no history of being territorially acquisitive, seems to me their ideal situation would be to have some kind of peace happening with their neighbours

The US can't 'just leave' in the short run, the busheviks would lost too much face, it's politically impossible ... but you know for sure they're working on plans A through G.1.j to hurry things up ... a sad affair, all in all, i would have been up for taking out the Saddams of the world, had it been done with true cooperation of a goodly quorum of the democracies ... and had it been done well [you have got to have a plan for the day after the invasion, doh, because that is when the hard part starts]

Just to be clear on gold, i do think Clive Maund has it nailed in his latest, posted on 321gold and safehaven.com - a near term bull move ... since other factors outweigh any premium for war risk coming out ... that said, i like zinc best here, then silver
