I know that Microsoft desperately wants/needs a music strategy but I cant believe they would agree to this.... Why not? It's a page out of the playbook they've used for years: spread the money around and get everyone in the market you can pushing for your side. Who do you think the content providers are going to favor: Apple where they only get a cut of the content sale or Microsoft where they get a cut of the content and platform sales? Of course there are significant differences in what they face pushing Zune and previous scenarios. It is definitely interesting to see this play out.
