NHL Injuries - Sept 28, 1997 BOSTON BRUINS - Center Joe Thornton (chip fracture above left wrist) is expected to be sidelined until late October or early November. BUFFALO SABRES - No significant injuries. CALGARY FLAMES - No significant injuries. CAROLINA HURRICANES - No significant injuries. CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS - No significant injuries. COLORADO AVALANCHE - Left wing Keith Jones (reconstructive surgery to repair torn anterior cruciate ligament in left knee) is expected to be sidelined until at least sometime in October or November. Defenseman Uwe Krupp (surgery to relieve pressure on nerve in lower back) is expected to be ready for the start of the season. DALLAS STARS - No significant injuries. DETROIT RED WINGS - Defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov (head) was injured in an off-season auto accident and is out indefinitely. EDMONTON OILERS - No significant injuries. FLORIDA PANTHERS - No significant injuries. LOS ANGELES KINGS - No significant injuries. MIGHTY DUCKS OF ANAHEIM - No significant injuries. MONTREAL CANADIENS - Left wing Brian Savage (broken right hand) was injured in a pre-season game and will be sidelined until early-to-mid October. NEW JERSEY DEVILS - No significant injuries. NEW YORK ISLANDERS - No significant injuries. NEW YORK RANGERS - Right wing Shane Churla (late August surgery on anterior cruciate ligament in left knee) is expected to miss the entire season. OTTAWA SENATORS - No significant injuries. PHILADELPHIA FLYERS - Defenseman Eric Desjardins (pelvis) is questionable for the start of the regular season. Defenseman Petr Svoboda (fractured bone in ring finger of right hand) was injured in a pre-season game and is expected to be sidelined until mid-to-late October. PHOENIX COYOTES - Backup goalie Darcy Wakaluk (knee surgery) is questionable for the start of the regular season. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS - No significant injuries. ST. LOUIS BLUES - No significant injuries. SAN JOSE SHARKS - Defenseman Al Iafrate (back) is expected to be ready for the start of the season. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING - Center John Cullen (cancer) will likely miss the entire season. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS - No significant injuries. VANCOUVER CANUCKS - No significant injuries. WASHINGTON CAPITALS - No significant injuries.
