Doom-and-gloom scenarios meant to shock people into action often end up having the opposite effect. Yes. They can result in the "its all just a bunch of crap" response, or "its so big there is nothing we can do to stop it" response, or the bury your head in the sand response (not the same as the first, one is an honest assertion that something isn't true, the other is a refusal to accept something even if you really believe it). The Stern report suggests I'm not sure how solid that source is. Message 22970004
