I agree with mc as far as the Fed's role in money and foreign currency markets, but for years I've read dozens of opinions on the supposed effect of coupon passes and permanent repos on equity markets and I have not yet seen anyone post a chart that indicates there is a sufficiently reliable correlation between fed injections and equity markets that implies some kind of cause/effect relationship based thereon.

Here's someone who had a board devoted specifically to tracking fed injections and its supposed effect on the equity markets, and after two years of tracking it he concluded there is no reliable enough correlation to hang one's hat on.

About four or five years ago we banned talk on this board of "manipulation" (beside the fact that it's FA) because posters finally realized this: whether there is manipulation at any particular given time going on or not, how does one's knowledge thereof make one a better trader?
