Dave, I appreciate what you are doing---alerting people in this Thread about the possible negative effect to AMAT of New and Better Technologies emerging. I, myself, was too advanced in thinking before---I thought New and Better things are sure to succeed quickly...How wrong I was...
More than 10 years ago, I bought the Amiga computer because it was better in Sound and Graphics compared to the PC and Apple computers. Why, I can play and compose music, paint in Color while my neighbors who owned PCs and Apples paint in Black and White!...The Amiga was well ahead of its time, it has a Sound and Graphics CHIPS that the PC just recently had with the MMX... In short, the Amiga is long gone and the PC---still around!...What Happened?...

Where is the Betamax with regards to VHS; the CD is just now growing after more than 10 years since introduction; the DVD has a long ways to go to play third fiddle to the Laser Disk and VHS...The Light Bulb, since Edison did not change much---still burning out to be replaced by another Bulb, no need to improve it because people don't care much, just buy another one since it's CHEAP anyway...
What I am trying to say is that People do not Change outright---it takes sometime...SOMETIME for successful companies to continue profitting from that slowness, while it lasts... |
