I think it was part of a normal sixth year of a Presidency election cycle, compounded with proven negative bents in news coverage, natural propensities of some to be perpetual hand wringers, common sense dissatisfaction with governmental spending and wasteful habits on all levels, lack of historical context in thought patterns, along with lack of memory of recent events leading to this point.

I don't believe for one minute that it signified any long term lurch to the left. The worst part of it will be played out in the streets of the middle east and finally that lots of folks tend to die when we get too "thoughtful" in the face of universally crazed adversaries.

If we don't show a united front on the war on terror, we will live(maybe)to rue the day we cut the legs out from under Bush, Rumsfeld, and co.

Other than that....it was just another day.
