I don't think congress is saying we have done a bad job of protecting national security. There have been no acts of terrorism since 911. It amazes me that there hasn't.

I have met some paranoid citizens but that makes me wonder more about them than what the government is doing. I was talking to an Egyptian woman the other day who is frightened about having her phone conversations to relatives in Egypt listened in on. But to be fair to her the paranoia comes naturally ... if you are found speaking against the Government while in Egypt, you disappear from the street and are never heard from again.

I think the biggest issue with congress is that 'they weren't asked'. Like my Dad would've said, 'If you'd have just asked, I would have said ok, but since you went behind my back, you're in trouble."

I don't see why we can't work something out if the 'working together in a spirit of cooperation' thing is real.

Appointments have to be challenged, that's the system. It doesn't automatically mean Bolton wont be confirmed. But if he isn't, I don't think it should be a stopper for everyone.
