dear mr. bean

you wrote:

BTW whats revbill mean? Are u a man of the cloth and a man of the money? I
could treat this thread as a religion. Kinda beleiving in an entity you cant see.<

i'm glad you asked! when i signed on to SI, i first tried to use my first
name, greg. this was taken so i then tried greg k. this was also taken.
i happened to be listening to the REM cd "dead letter office" at the time
and track 4, "voice of harold" came on. the first line is :reverend bill
funderbunk sings he cared that much for me". and so revbill was born.

ON THE TOPIC OF COREL
i have a dialogue going with David A. Lethe about when to sell
a stock and i will try to focus the discussion on corel. i am on SI to
learn about investing. i read the posts to try to gain insight and opinion of
other investors. your posts are objective, rational, and well reasoned
and you obviously have a long term focus. many people in the markets
today are trying to make a quick buck-day traders, week traders, etc.
since many investors are so focused on the short term, mutual fund
managers must also try to produce good returns every quarter or face big
redemptions by the impatient.

with this in mind does the long term approach make since? i think so.
i remember nortel in 1993 having a bad quarter and the stock tanked to
$27. where is it now $140? even recent events like the great newbridge
networks pre-announcing poor results caused a drop in the stock followed
by a quick run-up. or last week cognos dropping $13. people who owned
the stock panicked and either locked in a loss or took a smaller profit
than they should have. (btw, any thoughts on cognos?)

now knowing all we know about corel does holding it long term make sense?
are their enough realistic reasons to expect the company to do well over the
next few years? to be honest i'm not sure. i would appreciate hearing your
reasons for believing that holding corel long term will pay off.
