Okay Sportsfans... we are on a bit of a roller coaster here in Packerville.

I was in the shower last night getting ready for the Trophy dinner and trying to get the funk out of my head after that loss.

Wifie bangs on the door a few times saying I have a phone call from the president of our football conference. I figure he just wants to congratulate me on a nice season so I asked my wife to tell him I'll call him back.

She bangs again and says he needs to talk to me right now.

"Phucking guy" I'm thinking as I am dripping with soap as I reach my hand out the narrow space of the door to grab the cordless phone.

He says, "John there has been an exciting deveolpment in the playoff picture."

I say, "Yeah? And?"

He says, "National called me and said they have an odd number of teams competing down in Florida and they want to add a wild card team so the brackets are even."

I say, "Yeah real phunny you phuckin guy. Yer pulling my leg."
(Well I didn't actually say that but something sort of on those lines.)

He says, "John, I'm not joking. They want to add a wild card team but they don't want to send down a team who got blown away in the score and who could not compete down there. They saw that your game was very close and they asked me about the details and whether or not I thought they would be able to beat the team they played should they match up again."

(The burning soap in my eye is now the furthest thing on my mind.)

"AND?!!! What did you tell him?!!", I says.

"YOU ARE IN! YOU ARE GOING TO FLORIDA!!!"
You have to let me know if you are interested.

My brain is on overload. Sort of like when your computer is on the verge of locking up and gets all bogged down as the RAM is maxxed out with multi-processes going on. The blue screen flashes on the monitor inside my head. It reads...

"That's a no brainer, of course I'm interested!!!!"

So there I was at the trophy dinner, busting with this info.
I had to hold it in until after the cheerleaders got their trophies. (I didn't want to ruin their moment.)

When I finally got up to the podium and announced it, the kids when nuts.
There was literally tears of joy pouring off their faces.
My two biggest, toughest, lineman were crying. As I watched this I got such a feeling inside me. It was amazing. I mean these kids went from being sort of down in the dumps to being overwhelmed with emotion.

It was incredible.

Whatta day.

I am totally spent.

So much planning to do now.

WE ARE GOING TO THE SHOW!!!

The kids get rewarded with a memory that will last with them forever. This is the greatest.
