Merger June 2004 - New Company Name HealthTronics Inc (HTRN) In June 2004, Prime Medical and Marietta, Ga.-based HealthTronics Surgical Services Inc. (Nasdaq: HTRN) announced plans for a $252.6 million merger. The deal has been approved by both companies' board members but still must be approved by shareholders Nov. 9. The merged company, which will be called HealthTronics Inc., will be based in Austin and will have offices in Atlanta and Chicago. HealthTronics will trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol HTRN. The consolidation of the two companies is expected to save about $10 million annually, according to Prime Medical. Prime Medical provides health care services to the urology community, and designs and manufactures specialty vehicles for medical and other uses. The company employs about 65 people in Austin.
