Ethical Holdings became Amarin Corporation in December 1999

Amarin Corporation plc is a specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in London (UK), which focuses on the treatment of neurological disorders, especially movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Amarin Corporation started life as Ethical Holdings plc, a drug delivery company specializing in oral and transdermal delivery systems, Darren Cunningham, Executive Vice President Strategic Development, explained. The company became Amarin Corporation in December 1999 to reflect its move to specialty pharmaceuticals, and aims to become one of the leading neurology pharmaceutical companies. The strategy behind the change was to move away from a field dependent on milestone payments from third party companies, and towards more sustainable income based on product revenue, as well as shifting from a European to a US focus.
