A very educated conservative FRIEND I fought with for years on another thread for years regarding global warming just posted this-lol:
"Had the good fortune to spend quite a bit of time this weekend with a professor of geology from Cambridge University, whose specialy is seismology. What a wonderful fellow (for example, when someone challenged his feeling that global warming (caused by humans) is a fact, he didn't call them names!!! Imagine that!
I am now in the global warming caused by human believer group now.
As far as what will happen as the result of the global warming, he says since it's really never happened the way it's happening now, no one really knows.
He's out here talking to seismologists at Cal Tech, staying with some friends of mine, who also hosted our Oregon friends, down for the SC - Oregon game. We took the professor to his first football game ever (American or soccer). He appeared to enjoy it, although it was a game marred by many penalties and took forever to finish (past 11 pm, PST).
He said that about the only scientists that disputed global warming as other scientists (including C99's son in law) work for Exxon-Mobil.
It was fascinating hearing him talk about some of the great quakes and volcanic eruptions.
He's never felt an earthquake, so our group had something on him in that regard; I suggested maybe Southern Cal could provide him with one during his brief stay. Apparently, earthquakes of any magnitude just don't happen in London.
I now think anyone that doesn't believe in human-caused global warming is the dumbest, most idiotic, dangerous, scary, foolish kind of person around. |
