Agreed. I could see it if the person switched after a lot of soul searching (IE, their party was drifting further & further away from a moderate platform) & they had a history of breaking with their former party on significant issues (IE, a real blue-dog or a liberal Republican).

I still hear folks talking about Lieberman switching. That would be great for Republicans, but Joe is still a solid liberal on social issues.
