Then you would probably agree that there is an inequality in the way that the two substances are dealt with by our society. The person involved in marijuana could have his/her: -house -car -cash -and any other asset taken from them on any whim with little burden of prof. Then spend (on average) five times the days in jail than someone charged with manslaughter would. I think that you would probably agree that this is just a bit excessive. Much more intense than any legal ramifications against alcohol users during prohibition. The war on drugs is a war against US citizens by the US government. I'll respond about the self-medication stuff in my next response.
