It is quite apparent they will use the gap in Western leadership to their advantage to exploit whatever politically weak governments they can attack in the ME.

Yep.. the minute the Democrats win, Abu Ayyub Al-Masri, Zarqawi's replacement, is threatening to blow up the White House.

But then again, it's possible that they need the US presence in Iraq even more than we think we do. They know that, without the US there, they Shi'a will have free rein, and the Sunnis will be expelled from Iraq (or the attempt made).

Furthermore, without the US, they will find it more difficult to justify their Jihad and win support from Sunni tribal leaders.

It's going to be an interesting couple of years coming up...
