I think people give TOO much credit to the political motives of the Jihadists.

When Carter lost in 1980, the Iranians were ecstatic. It wasn't because they wanted Reagan more than Carter, it was just because they consider ANY loss by their opponents to be victories for themselves.

These guys aren't sitting around reading newspapers and computer screens. They're sitting around cleaning their guns and packing their next car bomb.
